This post looks Manga eye-to-eye.
Manga eyes are so expressive. They're the most exciting facial feature.
* The eyes are windows into your character *
Countless feelings and emotion can be conveyed through subtle and not-so-subtle techniques. I found the Eye Charts below helpful because you see a host of emotions up-close and how vividly shape, detail, lashes and color can make an eye sparkle.
I didn't realize how many brilliant ways there were to capture emotion! Through tears, close-eyed happiness, or wide-eyed brightness. I wish I had the talent of these artists.
I’m working on some new characters and learning to draw Manga. While I’ve done character drawings and sketches before, none were really Manga-style. I’m still developing my ‘sight,’ how in writing we have a ‘voice.’ It’s fun, challenging, and creative.

My illustrator used a manga style illustration of my heroine for my children's book and then worried about copyright and changed it! :0)
ReplyDeletewhats the name of your book
DeleteThat is so cool! I love the concept, but I doubt I could execute it, even with the help of a book. : )
ReplyDeleteShare pics when you're done!
Carole: That's cool! I'm sorry it didn't work out. I would love to see my characters as manga.
ReplyDeleteEmily: Yes you could ;) This book breaks it down into baby-baby steps. Like tracing paper is built-in. If I ever draw anything good enough to share I'll be cheering from the hilltops and posting it all over LOL.
